Shahid Kapoor explains that acting is about transformation, not narcissism: “I’m not very interested in who I am”

Recently, he delved into the challenges and rewards of transforming himself for the screen, shedding light on his approach to portraying characters that resonate deeply.

Last night at an event, when Shahid Kapoor was asked about the characters he picks, he mentioned, "For me, it’s nothing to do with who I am! it’s more like what I can portray and who I can be! I’m not looking to do something that’s like me. I think that would be very narcissistic like let me just show myself to the world! The idea is to be a part of stories and play different characters who represent different aspects of human behavior, and society; people who are from different backgrounds, whose brains work differently, whose heart works differently, who speak differently, look different, and walk differently!"

Shahid further added, "To me, that’s what acting is what always been about and I will always chase that. I’m not very interested in who I am and put that out in front of the camera. Instead, I’m more interested in what the director or scriptwriter is bringing to me and I can mold myself to become that!"

Speaking of the professional front, the 43-year-old actor is currently enjoying the success of his latest release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Co-starring Kriti Sanon, it was helmed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. He has a couple of projects in his kitty including Deva.
