Pakistani-American actress and activist Somy Ali was one of the top actresses of the 1990s working with stars like Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt and many others. However, her relationship with Salman Khan was always in the limelight. It didn’t last and the duo parted ways after dating for eight years. Since then, Somy has often slammed the Bollywood actor, through social media posts and her interaction with the media. But this time, for a change, the actress has shed some light on her career and overall experience of working in Bollywood.

A report by Free Press Journal quoted Somy saying, “In my opinion, everyone is lonely at their highest point in life – that's the nature of Hollywood or be it Bollywood. It's harder to make a distinction between who is a true friend when one has achieved fame and success. This leads to loneliness, even when you are surrounded by thousands of people screaming your name. But that's the sacrifice stars are willing to make, so it comes with the territory. Even when surrounded by people, one can feel lonely. It's all perspective and a state of mind.”

Speaking of her experience, the 46-year-old actress further added, “People in the industry can't be trusted even if they want to be because they have trouble trusting people. Remember that once you become famous and successful, you lose the ability and choice to be your true self. You inevitably have to carry a persona and facade of a superstar, and no matter how humble you try to depict yourself to be, your arrogance will appear in one form or another.”

For the unversed, Somy Ali came to India to pursue a teenage crush on Salman Khan. After making her debut in 1993, the actress flew back to the US in 1999.
