Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 released in theatres on August 11, 2023. The film also stars Utkarsh Sharma as their son. While the movie has opened to mixed reviews, the audiences are enjoying the nostalgia so much so that the film has collected Rs. 134.88 crore in the first two days at the box office. At the success press conference on Monday, the actor looked extremely elated for not just himself but also for his father Dharmendra, who has been receiving appreciation for recently released Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

In Karan Johar's directorial, Dharmendra’s character is in love with Shabana Azmi’s character and the romance blooms once again which brings Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s characters Rocky and Rani closer. However, a scene that went viral on social media was the kiss shared by Dharmendra and Shabana. At the Gadar 2 press conference on Monday, Sunny was quite elated by the response that his father has been receiving at age 87. “He recently did a film and had a nice romantic scene,” which left the audience in splits. He added, “It’s in the genes.”

Talking about his reaction to Gadar 2, Sunny added, “Papa ko kuch kehna nahi hota. Papa bas ek jhappi daal denge. Has denge (Papa doesn’t say much. He will give a hug and share a laugh).”

Helmed by director-producer Anil Sharma, and produced by Zee Studios, the movie sees Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles as Tara Singh, Sakeena and Jeete. The film is about the next challenge the family faces from across the border.
