Oscars 2022 was full of emotions and some OMG! moments. With the film Dune winning four awards for the night and Will Smith’s punch for Chris Rock leaving everyone speechless, the Oscars had everyone hooked.

Before the event took place, the academy organised several pre-events attended by actors all around the world. One of them being South Asian Excellency. The gala hosted by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mindy Kaling and Kunal Nanjiani with several others celebrated the South Asian communities.

The gala was attended by Riz Ahmed, Aziz Ansari, Lilly Singh, Kal Penn, Poorna Jagannathan and Swara Bhasker.

During a talk with Hindustan Times, Swara said, “It was a lovely, vibrant, warm evening with very dynamic talent in the room. There were lots of really interesting, creative, talented people. It was really nice to be there and to see our own people excelling in Hollywood, and, you know, celebrating each other.”

Swara further added, “The nicest thing about it was the sense of fraternity, sense of camaraderie and the sense of unity and identity as something that can be also enabling and empowering for each other.” When asked about whether she plans on making her debut in Hollywood, Swara answered, “Well, never say never”.
