Even though Animal managed to garner moolah and was hailed by critics, the film also faced a lot of negative opinions where people called it ‘misogynistic’ and expressed their dislike towards the ‘abusive’ character of Ranbir Kapoor. Apart from him, it was the character Zoya which came under the scanner, especially as ‘Bhabhi 2’ and she also faced flak for doing intimate scenes with the Kapoor boy. Addressing the same, Triptii Dimri revealed the reason behind her agreeing to do this role and also discussed the reaction of her parents.
In an interview with Vogue India, for which Triptii Dimri turned cover girl, the actress broached the subject of criticism she received and said, “I know my reasons for doing the film. Sandeep sir (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) was clear that it was going to be a small role, but I found the character interesting. If we start making decisions based on what audiences are going to say, then as actors, we won’t ever be able to do what we want to do,” she said. Further opening up about the reaction of her parents, Triptii added, “My parents were completely rattled when they saw it. We had to have a long discussion on why that scene was crucial.”
As she opened up about the kind of films she has done and the roles she would like to do, she shared, “I want to choose roles that push me out of my comfort zone. There’s a lot of advice on offer and I listen to it all, but it comes down to instinct. I might make mistakes along the way, but I’m allowed to.”
Before Animal, Triptii Dimri was known for her power-packed roles in films like Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, and Qala.
