“We’ve lost a very dear brother”- Jeetendra mourns Rishi Kapoor’s death, Rakesh Roshan calls it an irreparable loss

Actor Rishi Kapoor, after fighting cancer for two years, breathed his last this morning at a Mumbai hospital. It is not just the film industry that has lost one of its most iconic actors, but his professional relationship with many transcended beyond that and became lifelong friendships.

Kapoor's dear friend Jeetendra and wife Shobha Kapoor mourned the loss of their dear friend. "The magnitude of his loss and the void he leaves behind will be felt forever. We’ve lost one of our closest friends, our very dear brother and one of the finest human beings. It was an honour to be a part of his life. Our deepest condolences to Neetu, Riddhima, Ranbir and the entire Kapoor family," a statement issued by them read.

Another old friend Rakesh Roshan also took to Twitter, and called it an irreparable loss. "Rishi left us... Chintu gone... still can’t believe, his loss is irreparable," he wrote.

Kapoor, who was detected with Leukemia, spent nearly a year in New York, treating himself. Upon returning to India, he announced himself cancer-free, and resumed work. However, he reportedly had a relapse of the dreadful disease. Last night, he was rushed to the ICU and succumbed after being in the ICU for the night.
