Wicked marks the first part, arriving in cinemas on November 22, of a two-part cinematic journey, with Wicked Part Two set to premiere on November 26, 2025.

After captivating audiences for two decades on stage, Wicked is poised to enchant moviegoers with its highly anticipated film adaptation this holiday season. This cinematic retelling of the untold story of the Witches of Oz features Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Elphaba, marked by her distinctive green skin, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Opposite her is Grammy-winning superstar Ariana Grande, portraying Glinda, a charming yet privileged young woman whose ambition often overshadows her true self.

Their story begins at Shiz University in the enchanting Land of Oz, where their unexpected friendship blossoms. However, a pivotal encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz sets them on diverging paths. As Glinda pursues popularity and power, Elphaba remains steadfast in her commitment to authenticity, leading to unforeseen consequences that shape their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The film boasts a stellar cast, including Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as the formidable headmistress Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as the charming prince Fiyero, and Tony nominee Ethan Slater, who plays Boq, a kind-hearted Munchkin student. Marissa Bode makes her feature-film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s beloved sister, while pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum steps into the role of the iconic Wizard of Oz.

Adding depth to the story are Pfannee and ShenShen, Glinda’s cunning friends, portrayed by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James. The film also introduces a new character, Miss Coddle, played by Tony nominee Keala Settle.

Helmed by acclaimed director Jon M. Chu, Wicked marks the first part, arriving in cinemas on November 22, of a two-part cinematic journey, with Wicked Part Two set to premiere on November 26, 2025.

Produced by Marc Platt, along with multiple Tony winner David Stone, Wicked is an adaptation based on Gregory Maguire's bestselling novel. The screenplay is crafted by stage production writer Winnie Holzman and legendary composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who also brought the original Broadway musical to life. The musical's stage production is a collaborative effort between Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone, promising a rich legacy as it transitions from stage to screen.
