Colleen Hoover and actress Blake Lively discussed the film adaptation of Hoover's novel "It Ends With Us."

Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us, adapted into a film starring discussing the romantic drama and Blake's portrayal of Lilly, Blake Lively and Colleen Hoover sharing some interesting behind-the-scenes insights over Afternoon Tea.

When Blake asked Colleen how she feels sharing this story with audiences through a movie, the writer shared, “You know a lot of times adaptions get a lot of flake for not sticking to the book and I really feel like this one has been very faithful. So, I am extremely ecstatic to see the reactions. Going on sets was mind blowing because it was even more than my imagination could capture.”

Talking about what drew Blake to this story she shared, “The reason I was excited to do the movie is that I saw the mention of your name and I was like, oh, wow her voice resonates with people, how she tells stories and what she’s telling reaches out and grabs so many people and then I fell in love with Lilly. I want to play this women because I understand why she experiences what she experiences, there was like an authenticity to it, that’s really powerful.”

Adding to Blakes response about Lilly Colleen expressed, “I appreciate you taking on the role and doing it so well and bringing to the chracter what I had intended in the book and you did it on screen in such a powerful way.”

Set for a theatrical release in India on 9th August 2024, IT ENDS WITH US, the first Colleen Hoover novel adapted for the big screen, tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.

Directed by Justin Baldoni, the film stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Amy Morton and Brandon Sklenar.
