Charlie Cox starrer Daredevil: Born Again taps Michael Cuesta to direct pilot episode

Michael Cuesta has been tapped to helm the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again.

Dexter director Michael Cuesta has reportedly been roped in to helm the first episode of Charlie Cox starrer Daredevil: Born Again for Marvel Studios. Jill Blankenship and Grainne Godfree previously joined the Disney+ series, which is slated for release in 2024, as writers.

As noted by Collider, Cuesta joins the Daredevil: Born Again team just in time for production which is set to begin filming this March in New York City. Other directors for the 18-episode series are reported to be lined up to direct blocks of episodes.

Charlie Cox, who previously portrayed Matt Murdock in Netflix’s Daredevil, is all set to return in the role of lawyer and vigilante for the upcoming Disney+ series. After a quick cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and a comedic yet charismatic return in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Cox will be returning to his infamous character for Disney but for a less gory portrayal this time.

Marvel President Kevin Fiege announced the new series at Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel back in July. Besides Cox, the new Disney+ series will bring cast members from other MCU series around Matt Murdock. Vincent D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk; D’Onoforio first appeared as Fisk in Hawkeye, and Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher.

Nikki M. James, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt are also set to join the show which will be executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. Corman and Ord will also write the screenplay alongside Godfree and Blankenship.

Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere in 2024.
