2024 was off to a promising start with fresh stories like Park Hyung Sik – Park Shin Hye starrer Doctor Slump, Jo Jung Suk – Shin Se Kyung-led Captivating the King, Lee Dong Wook starrer A Shop for Killers, etc. While the month of January saw a drop in big names and fresh pairings, the month of February is no less. We have Choi Wo Shik and Son Suk Ku collaborate for A Killer Paradox, then we have Lee Jae Wook comeback with The Impossible Heir. In addition to January K-dramas continuing this month, let’s take a look at the new dramas premiering in February 2024.
1. A KILLER PARADOX
A Killer Paradox is your dose of dark humour and satire this month. Starring Choi Woo Shik and Son Suk Ku, A Killer Paradox is a quirky tale of a university student Lee Tang (played by Choi Woo Shik) who unknowingly ends up killing a serial killer. Then we have detective Jang Nan Gam, who puts his instincts above any orders. He is hot on Lee Tang’s heels and so is ex-police officer Song Chon (played by Lee Hee Joon). The drama is set to premiere on February 9, 2024 on Netflix.
2. WEDDING IMPOSSIBLE
A fake marriage trope with a character trying to stop the said marriage from happening? Well, that calls for a fun comic caper romance K-drama, doesn’t it? Jun Jeong Seo and Kim Do Wan star in Wedding Impossible. Jun Jeong Seo plays Na A Jeong, a talented but struggling side actor who has very little real dating experience. Come Kim Do Wan as Lee Do Han, an heir to a conglomerate being pushed for marriage. He enlists his friend A Jeong’s help to get into a fake marriage and keep his family at bay. He has a secret of his own to avoid getting married, but we’ll find that soon enough. His brother turns out to be an obstacle to this fake marriage and tries to steer Do Han’s attention towards another prospect. Wedding Impossible will be released February 26, 2024 on TvN.
3. BRANDING IN SEONGSU
Kim Ji Eun and Lomon star in the fantasy drama Branding In Seongsu where they can’t stand each other, but their bodies get switched after a freak accident! Kim Ji Eun stars as Kang Na Eon, a hard working woman who sacrificed love and life to rise up the corporate ladder. Lomon is a stark contrast as he is quite happy go lucky in his approach towards life. He is forced to take up a job and winds up in the same work place as Na Eon. The two are at loggerheads from the start, and things get even more complicated as their bodies are switched! Branding in Seongsu is slated to premiere on February 5, 2024 on U+mobiletv.
4. THE IMPOSSIBLE HEIR
A scheming game of attaining wealth, power and status paired with family politics? Well, sign us up for this drama! The Impossible Heir tells the story of Kang In Ha (played by Lee Jun Young) who lived a life in poverty, but soon finds that his father is the chairman of a wealthy conglomerate. He joins hands with his friend Han Tae Ok (played by Lee Jae Wook) to take his rightful place. He is met with cold reception from his father’s side of the family, but he would stop at nothing to get what he wants. The series arrives on Disney+ Hotstar on February 28, 2024.
5. PYRAMID GAME
A drama about a new transfer student in class, a hierarchy and bullying system in school. Ring familiar bells here? Pyramid Game is a K-drama adapted from a webtoon of the same name by author Dalgonyak. The drama stars Bona as Sung Ji Soo, a new transfer student at an all girls high school in Seoul. She soon finds about the pyramid game where everyone is ranked based on popularity and the one with lowest scores is the next target of bullying. As fate would have it, she is the new target of bullying. She takes the matter in her own hands to stop bullying from happening ever again. Pyramid Game is set to premiere on February 29, 2024 on Tving.
