Disney has decided to shake up many of its releases. Apart from delaying the next three installments of Avatar, a slew of projects have been delayed and a new Star Wars movie has been announced. The ongoing strike of writers has delayed many projects and is the reason behind the shake-up in the release dates.
As reported by Variety, the Dwayne Johnson starrer live-action Moana will be released on June 27, 2025; Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool 3 has been preponed from November 8, 2024, to May 3, 2024; an untitled Star Wars movie has been announced which takes up December 18, 2026 slot.
Marvel is also reshuffling the dates for their upcoming projects including Captain America: Brave New World which is moving from May 3, 2024, to July 26, 2024. This, in turn, delays Thunderbolts which is expected to release on December 20, 2024; Blade arrives on February 14, 2025 in cinemas and Fantastic Four moves to May 2, 2025. Apart from these changes, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is delayed by an entire year, from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2026, and so is Avengers: Secret Wars, which is now moving to May 7, 2027.
Apart from December 2026 Star Wars project, a separate movie is also delayed movie from December 19, 2025, to May 22, 2026. Another untitled Star Wars project is set for December 17, 2027 release.
Lastly, the new Alien movie will see August 16, 2024 release. Produced by Ridley Scott, it is directed by Fede Alvarez.
