Hollywood actor Ezra Miller issued the first public statement amid their slew of controversies and misconduct allegations at the world premiere of The Flash on Monday, June 12. The actor, who is non-binary and uses they/them as pronouns, thanked the executives for their care and support.
At the premiere, as reported by Variety, Miller thanked Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Film Group heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy and DC Studios stewards James Gunn and Peter Safran for “your grace and discernment and care in the context of my life. And in bringing this moment to fruition.”
Miller had faced multiple arrests and controversies due to their violent, erratic, and unlawful behavior, which had caused speculation about the film's release. The actor was accused of inappropriate behavior and harassment towards minors, and they were charged in a burglary case in Vermont. In August 2022, Miller issued a statement stating that they were undergoing treatment for “complex mental health issues.” They gave an official statement adding, “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment," Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash releases on June 16.
