Henry Cavill to star in and executive produce ‘Warhammer 40,000’ live-action series for Amazon.

After de-caping from his role as DC’s Superman, Henry Cavill is currently attached to star in and produce an Amazon series based on the Warhammer 40,000.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon is in final talks for the rights to the most popular wargame after months of negotiations. ‘Warhammer 40,000’ is set on Earth 40,000 years in the future, where humans unceasingly struggle in a war with supernatural beings, aliens, gods and demons.

"The humans make up the Imperium of Man, who are militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids are known as the Necron; there is an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks; Tyranids are nasty aliens; and the T’au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope," notes The Hollywood Reporter.

No writers or showrunners are currently attached to the project which is executive produced by Vertigo Entertainment. Cavill is long known to be a Warhammer fan and paints figures. The Witcher actor famously spent his pandemic building computers and painting Warhammer miniatures.

Meanwhile, Cavill recently confirmed his exit as the iconic superhero Superman following DC’s revamped slate. Newly-appointed DC Studios co-head James Gunn also announced that he’s currently in the works for a new Superman film which will not star Cavill and take place during the Man of Steel's early life.
