Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hye Sun and Kang Mina in talks to star in new drama Welcome to Samdalri

South Korean actors Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hye Sun and Kang Mina are currently in talks to star in new drama Welcome to Samdalri, helmed by When The Camellia Blooms director Cha Young Hoon.

According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, JTBC’s Welcome to Samdalri tells the story of someone who appears to others like a dragon ascending gracefully. When they suddenly lose everything they have, they come crashing down and must return to where they came from in order to catch their breath.

Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun were reported to star in the new drama together earlier in February 2023. A representative of Ji Chang Wook’s agency had stated, “He has received an offer to star in Welcome to Samdalri, and he is reviewing the offer.”

Similarly, a source from Shin Hye Sun’s agency had shared, “It is true that Shin Hye Sun has been offered the role of the female lead in the new JTBC drama Welcome to Samdalri, but nothing has been decided yet.” Both the stars have received an offer to appear as leads in the drama which is penned by Kwon Hye Joo.

Meanwhile, on March 16, Kang Mina’s agency Jellyfish Entertainment confirmed that “Kang Mina received an offer from the producers of new drama Welcome to Samdalri [working title] and is currently positively reviewing.” The actress has been offered the role of Jo Eun Hye’s younger sister, while Shin Dong Mi is in discussions to play their eldest sister.
