Jirisan star Jun Ji Hyun and Broker actor Kang Dong Won in talks for new romance drama Polaris

South Korean actors Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won are currently in talks to star in new spy romance drama Polaris (working title). If Kang Dong Won accepts the offer, this will be his fourth drama in nearly 20 years since 2004’s Magic.

A source from Jun Ji Hyun’s agency IEUM HASHTAG clarified in a statement, “Jun Ji Hyun was offered a role in the drama Polaris and is positively reviewing [the offer].” Similarly, a representative of Kang Dong Won also shared, “It is one of several projects he has been offered.”

According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Polaris is a new spy romance drama and tells the stories of spies who work to find their true selves. The drama will be created by screenwriter Jung Seo Kyung who previously worked on The Handmaiden, Mother, and Decision to Leave.

The show will be helmed by director Kim Hee Won whose credits include The Crowned Clown, Crash Landing on You, Vincenzo, and more. On the work front, Jun Ji Hyun is widely known for her roles in My Love From the Star, The Legend of the Blue Sea, Jirisan, and more.

Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won has mostly worked in films including Train to Busan sequel Peninsula, Broker, Temptation of Wolves, a film that shot him to fame. He also has appeared in My Brilliant Life, Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned and Golden Slumber.
