John Wick universe to expand with new series in the works; Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski to executive produce: Report

The world of John Wick is set to become even larger. Lionsgate is developing a new TV series titled John Wick: Under the High Table. Executive-produced by franchise star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski, the series picks up directly after the explosive events of John Wick: Chapter 4.

According to a report in Deadline, Chad Stahelski, who has signed a deal with Lionsgate to oversee the creative direction of the John Wick franchise across film and television, will also direct the pilot episode. The series is penned by The Old Man co-creator Robert Levine, who will serve as showrunner.

John Wick: Under the High Table promises to blend familiar faces with new characters, a strategy that proved successful in the prequel limited series, The Continental: From the World of John Wick. The series will explore the power vacuum left by John Wick's departure from the High Table, introducing fresh adversaries and alliances as the underworld redefines itself.

While Reeves is not expected to reprise his iconic role in the series, his involvement as an executive producer ensures his creative influence. The project is currently being shopped to networks and streaming platforms, generating significant interest in the highly competitive television market.

In addition to the new series, Lionsgate is developing a spin-off film centered around Donnie Yen's character, Caine, and another titled Ballerina starring Ana de Armas, set in the period between the third and fourth John Wick movies. A fifth John Wick film is also in the works.

Despite the growing franchise, Lionsgate has confirmed that the TV series will not interfere with the development of future films.
