Popular South Korean actors Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are all set to star in the upcoming drama Queen Of Tears, by Crash Landing On You director Jang Young Woo. This marks the reunion of Kim So Hyun with My Love From Star and Producer writer Park Ji Eun, who is set to write this upcoming drama too.
As per the Korean media portal Soompi, the production company Studio Dragon confirmed the casting on December 5. The official statement read, “The production of writer Park Ji Eun’s new drama ‘Queen of Tears’ has been confirmed.” The makers plan to begin the shoot in the first half of 2023 with the plans to premiere the series in the second half of the year.
The two actors will play the role of a married couple. Kim Soo Hyun is set to star as Baek Hyun Woo, whereas Kim Ji Won will be essaying the role of his wife Hong Hae In. As per the logline, “Baek Hyun Woo, who is the pride of the village of Yongduri, is the legal director of the conglomerate Queens Group, while chaebol heiress Hong Hae In is the “queen” of Queens Group’s department stores. Queen of Tears will tell the miraculous, thrilling, and humorous love story of this married couple, who manage to survive a crisis and stay together against all odds.”
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun was last seen in a murder mystery Criminal Justice remake called One Ordinary Remake. Kim Ji Won was most recently seen in My Liberation Notes.
