1. SPICE UP OUR LOVE
No Gain No Love topped the viewer charts during its airing period and it also brought a wave of laughter and tears of joy to its audience. One of the interesting aspects of the drama, in addition to Shin Min Ah and Kim Young Dae’s chemistry, was Lee Sang Yi and Han Ji Hyun’s story. This funny couple is set to return to the small screen in their own spin-off story in Spice Up Our Love. Lee Sang Yi will play the role of a corporate heir whereas Han Ji Hyun will play the role of a nutritionist in the drama. There are two types of families in an individual's life - one forged by blood, the other by heart. Friends are your first step to forming a strong family by heart. In Family By Choice, an upcoming drama starring Hwang In Youp, Jung Chae Yeon, and Bae Hyun Sung, we see a bond forged over decades. Kim San Ha, Yoon Ju Won, and Kang Hae Jun formed a tight-knit bond during their adolescence. They are bought up by San Ha and Hae Jun’s fathers. The people separate and reunite a decade later, but it is not without a lot of stories to tell. Family By Choice is set to premiere on October 9.
Fans of Stranger, rejoice! A spinoff of the highly loved series is finally here. Titled Donjae, the Good or the Bastard, the story of this drama follows Seo Dong Jae played by Lee Joon Hyun. Talking about physical intimacy is still shunned and considered taboo in society. Imagine selling physical intimacy and adult products in the 90s when society was much more conservative. Imagine being a woman in that business! But in times like those were a bunch of women who did not shy from doing this taboo job. Actors Kim So Yeon, Kim Sung Ryung, Kim Sun Young, and Lee Se Hee come together as “Bangpan Sisters” in A Virtuous Business. Joining them is actor Yeon Woo Jin as Kim Do Hyeon. “Bangpan Sisters” started a business of selling adult toys door to door and giving a chance for couples to have an experience beyond the dictated norms. A Virtuous Business is a remake of the 2016 British drama Brief Encounters. A Virtuous Business is set to premiere on October 12 on TVIng in South Korea and on Netflix globally.
Director Yeon Sang Ho who stunned with a supernatural dystopian drama Hellbound back in 2021 is now back with its sequel! Hellbound Season 2 picks up where season one left off. Park Jun Ja (played by Kim Shin Rok), who was one of the damned, was resurrected in the finale of season one. This event left the society in a state of frenzy. Following actor Yoo Ah In’s legal run-ins, he was replaced by Kim Sung Cheol as Jung Ji Su, a shady cult leader. Kim Hyun Joo will be seen as Min Hye Jin. Hellbound season two will premiere on Netflix with six episodes on October 25.
One of the most anticipated releases of October 2024 has to Love in the Big City. Adapted from a novel of the same name by author Park Sang Young, Love in the Big City follows the life of a young man in his 20s as he navigates love, life, and everything in between in the big city of Seoul. Actor Nam Yoon Su plays the lead Go Young in the drama. The male lead is a homosexual man, and seeing a queer story in mainstream Korean media is no small feat.
