Here’s a list of upcoming K-dramas to choose from which are releasing in the month of September 2023!

The month of September brings with it a promise of stories both old and new. We see the return of the beloved historical fiction show Arthdal Chronicles where Lee Joon Gi also makes his small screen comeback. We also see Ahn Hyo Seop in a fresh new love story (albeit a remake of a Taiwanese story) alongside Jeon Yeo Been. There is an action comedy, a suspense drama, a fantasy romance, and even a thrilling story of crime and justice. Which one do you want to pick? 1. A TIME CALLED YOU

Did you miss Ahn Hyo Seop’s golden retriever energy and Jeon Yeo Been’s sassy avatar on screen? The wait is about to end with A Time Called You. This drama is a remake of the 2019 Taiwanese time travel fantasy romance drama Someday or One Day. It tells the story of a young girl who is still grieving the loss of her boyfriend. As she travels back in time, she meets a person who looks quite similar to her deceased boyfriend. Kang Hoon will also be seen in the drama alongside the main leads. A Time Called You is set to premiere on September 8 on Netflix. It would consist of twelve episodes.

2. ARTHDAL CHRONICLES – The SWORD OF ARAMUN

To those who eagerly waited for the next installment of Arthdal Chronicles can finally sigh in relief. The drama is making a comeback with a new cast and takes the story ahead eight years after the events seen in the drama back in 2019. Lee Joon Gi, Shin Se Kyung, Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Vin make a comeback to the small screen. There will be a lot of tug of war for power in this season. Arthdal Chronicles will begin airing from September 9 on Netflix.

3. HAN RIVER POLICE

When you have Sung Dong Il in the role of a police detective, you can easily guess that the story would be worth your time. Be it a buddy cop movie or an intense thriller, Sung Dong Il has never failed to deliver a great performance. This time he is joined by Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won and Bae Da Bin in Han River Police. The drama is an action comedy which tells the story of these detectives patrolling the Han River. Lee Sang Yi stars in an antagonist role. Han River Police is set to premiere on September 13 on Disney+ Hotstar.

4. THE DAY

Author Jung Hae Yeon’s novel “The Day of the Kidnappinghas been adapted into the K-drama The Day. Yoon Kye Sang plays the lead Myung Joon in the drama. He kidnaps Ro Hee, the daughter of a wealthy household to aid his own daughter’s medical expenses. Ro Hee believes him to be her father, after she loses all her memory. But as her memories come back, the reality also begins to come to light. The Day will begin airing on ENA from September 13.

5. 7 ESCAPE

Dramas which have words like ‘escape’ in the title give a good hint as to what the story might be. 7 Escape tells the story of seven individuals who are connected with the disappearance of a young girl. Each character has their own agenda in play. If you were thinking that there is no thriller drama in September, then tune in for “7 Escape” from September 15.

6. SONG OF THE BANDITS

We have seen Kim Nam Gil as a priest and now we will get to see him as a bandit named Lee Yoon in the historical fiction K-drama Song of the Bandits. Set in the 1920s, the drama tells the story of the Korean settlements in the Gando region of China. SNSD’s Seohyun also stars in the lead as Nam Hee Shin along with Yoo Jae Myoung as Choi Chung Soo. The drama is set to premiere on September 22 on Netflix.

7. TWINKLING WATERMELON

Eun Geol’s parents are hearing impaired but Eun Geol (played by Ryeoun) is blessed with a gift for music. He studies in the day and earns his living by playing guitar in a band in the evening. He happens to visit a store of musical instruments which lands him in a strange place where he meets three individuals, namely, Yi Chan, Se Kyoung and Cheong A. Seol In Ah plays the role of Se Kyung who is dubbed as the Cello Goddess. The four come together to form the band ‘Watermelon Sugar’, hence the title of the drama Twinkling Watermelon. This drama is set to premiere on September 15.

8. THE WORST OF EVIL

Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon’s The Worst of Evil is one of the most anticipated K-dramas of September. Touted to be a mix of suspense and action, this drama brings together two powerhouses in a never-seen-before avatar. Ji Chang Wook plays the role of an undercover cop whereas Wi Ha Joon is the lord of an organized crime gang. What makes the drama special is the stellar cast, a promising plot and a stunning set of visuals. The Worst of Evil is set to air from September 27 on Disney+ Hotstar.
