The story centers on FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) investigating a series of unsolved murders. Her relentless pursuit of the serial killer keeps the audience on edge, eagerly anticipating each revelation. Monroe explains, "You don’t understand why, but she’s very ultra-aware of her surroundings. That’s what makes her a great FBI agent and why she’s put on this case."

Perkins aims to captivate audiences with his unique approach to the murder mystery genre, blending a true-crime aesthetic with chilling visuals. In an interview with Fangoria, Perkins shared, “In early responses to the movie, people are saying, ‘There’s something within this movie that’s in and of itself unholy,’ and it’s kind of coming through the pores of the movie.” Nicolas Cage added, “People are going to come away from the movie asking themselves, ‘Have I just been cursed?’”

Nicolas Cage’s dedication to his role is evident in his performance. He stated, “I wanted Longlegs to be very androgynous. I was thinking about the androgynous prophet in Fellini’s Juliet of the Spirits, and the prophet was going, ‘Do you think I’m beautiful?’ You told me to sort of plump my hair. So I did that, and then I started saying to Maika, ‘Do you find me beautiful? His eerie portrayal adds a layer of unsettling realism to the film.”
