The Korean film Dream surpassed one million moviegoers in theatres nationwide on its 16th day of release, according to Plus M Entertainment. The film reached a total of 1,000,877 moviegoers on May 11. M Entertainment's announcement was based on the data provided by the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for ticket sales.
For the unversed, this achievement follows the success of Negotiation, the directorial debut of actor Jung Woo-sung, which hit the same milestone on its seventh day of release in 2023.
Speaking of the film, Dream is a sports comedy-drama starring IU and Park Seo-Joon. It is directed by Lee Byung Hun, known for his works such as Extreme Job and Melo is My Nature. The film follows a group of inexperienced soccer players competing in the Homeless World Cup.Â

The movie features Park Seo Joon as Yoon Hong Dae, a professional soccer player serving a disciplinary sentence who takes on the role of the team's coach, while IU portrays the producing director, Lee So Min, who documents their journey.
Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that before surpassing the 1 million mark, Dream had already made history by becoming the first Korean film in 50 days to top the domestic box office on April 27.Â
