Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa announced as co-Chairs for Met Gala 2023

This year’s show will honor late Karl Lagerfeld’s career.

Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa are the official co-chairs announced for this year’s Met Gala with the theme set as "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty." According to Variety, the annual Met Gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, will resume its annual tradition of taking place on the first Monday in May on May 1. This year’s exhibition will feature about 150 pieces, spanning Lagerfeld’s start in the business in the 1950s to his final collection in 2019.

The theme was first announced by Vogue, which organizes the event every year, in September 2022. On Wednesday, Vogue announced the four global icons will grab a chair at Anna Wintour's round table and help set the scenes for the 2023 Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual gala. The show will honor late Karl Lagerfeld a pioneer in the fashion industry who died in 2019 at the age of 85.

The 2023 co-chairs, who are the prominent figures in movies, television, sports and music, will help to curate the guest list and work with chefs to set a menu that goes with the theme. They also help in setting the interior theme and atmosphere by assisting interior designers with the decor.

Honorary chairs of the gala include Tom Ford and head of Instagram Adam Mosseri. As the report states, the exhibition and the gala are made possible by Chanel. Major support is provided by Fendi with additional funding by Lagerfeld and Condé Nast.
