South Korean actress Park So Dam, who went through treatments for papillary thyroid cancer, made her first public appearance after her surgery.
According to Allkpop, on December 19th, the actress made her first public appearance for her upcoming film Phantom’s press conference. "I felt bad because it seemed I caused concerns for many people,” Park So Dam shared.
She added, “I always tell my fans to stay healthy both mentally and physically, and it felt like I couldn't keep my promise. Last year at this time, I lost my voice and I was in bed after surgery. This year's holiday season is very different from the last year's,”
“I am so happy that I can greet you all healthy and well,” she continued. “To be honest, I'm so nervous that my hands are getting sweaty but I'm happy to see other casts and the director again. It feels like a new start." Besides Park So Dam, the film also stars Honey Lee, Sol Kyung Gu, Park Hae Soo, and Seo Hyun Woo. Directed by Lee Hae Young, Phantom is set in 1933 during the Japanese colonization of Korea.
As shared by Korean tabloid Soompi, the film draws out the intense story of various suspects who have been locked up in a secluded hotel as potential “phantom” spies planted by anti-Japanese organizations in the Japanese Government-General of Korea. As they try to prove themselves innocent and escape, they come to face the real phantom’s unstoppable operation.
The upcoming spy thriller film releases on January 18, 2023.
