Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams to host 2023 Oscar nominations on January 24

Oscar winner Riz Ahmed and M3GAN star Allison Williams have been tapped to announce the 2023 Oscar nominations on January 24. The show will also stream live on Goodmorningamerica.com, ABC News Live, Disney+, Oscars.org, Oscar.com and the Academy’s social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement, led by Ahmed and Williams, is scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater and will air live on ABC’s Good Morning America, the ABC morning show announced Wednesday.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences previously released the list of 301 movies that are eligible for the 2023 Best Picture Oscar including Everything Everywhere All At Once, which is coming off Golden Globe and Critics Choice wins, along with The Banshees of Inshirin, The Fabelmans, Avatar: The Way of Water, Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis among others.

Meanwhile, the acting categories include Cate Blanchett for Tár, Brendan Fraser, Tom Cruise as well as Michelle Yeoh and Viola Davis. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Academy Awards will be broadcasted live on ABC on March 12.

On the work front, Ahmed won the 2022 Oscar for best live-action short film for The Long Goodbye, alongside director Aneil Karia. He was also nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Sound of Metal. On the other hand, Williams is currently starring in the hit and viral spooky AI thriller film M3GAN. The Get Out actress also serves as an executive producer on the movie.
