South Korean pop sensation band SEVENTEEN’s upcoming album FML has set a record for the highest K-pop stock pre-orders in history with 4.64 million copies!
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, on April 23, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that SEVENTEEN surpassed 4.64 million stock pre-orders, setting a record in Korean pop history.
The newly released mini album sold 3.99M copies on the first day, setting the new record for largest first-week album sales in K-pop in just one day. SEVENTEEN also became the only K-pop artist to record 3M+ album sales on the first day. Ahead of the album release, pre-orders for the album surpassed 4.64M, the largest number of pre-orders ever in the history of K-pop.
With FML, SEVENTEEN offer two lead singles—“F*ck My Life” and “Super”—for the first time since their debut. The group’s leader S.COUPS said, “Our new album contains both the music we want to present and the messages we want to convey,” commenting on the two tracks of contrasting nature that boast the act’s flair as both K-pop performance icons and a companion to their fans and their listeners.
The official music video for “Super” revealed alongside the album features the members and over 200 dancers delivering a complex and powerful choreography of a never-before-seen scale as a single-minded crew, shedding light on the value of ‘coming together as one.’ The 13-piece act will also drop the music video for the other lead single “F*ck My Life” at midnight KST on May 8. In addition to the dual lead singles, the mini-album includes the unit tracks “Fire” (Hip-hop Unit), “I Don’t Understand But I Luv U” (Performance Unit) and “Dust” (Vocal Unit), as well as another full group track “April shower” that brings the album to close.
Previously, SEVENTEEN’s album distributor YG PLUS confirmed the brand broke their personal record with over 2.18 million stock pre-orders in 3 days. They also surpassed 4 million stock pre-orders, making them the second artist in history after BTS’ Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020.
Earlier this month, the K-pop stage-breakers unveiled a trailer for the mini album ahead of its arrival at 5 AM ET/6 PM KST on April 24. The short clip captures members of SEVENTEEN at the center of disorder, placed in the midst of broken cars, messy rooms, dull offices, packed buses, and groups of menacing chasers.
Rather than being set back by distress, however, the members soon start to get on their feet and take off, as the narration in the background suggests to them, “Fight for your life.”
The K-pop supergroup also dropped a series of concept photos, while the tracklist released earlier this month revealed that there will be 6 tracks to the mini album. Alongside two lead singles ‘F*ck My Life’ and a title that is yet to be disclosed, the album will include the unit tracks ‘Fire’ (Hip-hop Unit), ‘I Don’t Understand But I Luv U’ (Performance Unit) and ‘Dust’ (Vocal Unit), as well as another full group track ‘April shower’ slated to bring the album to a close.
SEVENTEEN’s 10th mini album FML arrives 9 months after SECTOR 17—the repackage of the band’s 4th full-length album, which charted at No.4 on the Billboard 200.
SEVENTEEN’s 10th mini album FML arrives on April 24 at 6 pm KST.
