Davis becomes the 18th person to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award after her recent Grammy win.

Viola Davis has earned the coveted title EGOT after winning Grammy Award for the audiobook of her memoir ‘Finding Me’. She becomes only the 18th person to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award, joining Rita Moreno, Alan Menken, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Mike Nichols, Mel Brooks, Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg.

"Oh my God! I wrote this book to honor the 6-year-old Viola, to honor her life, her joy, her trauma, everything," Davis began in her acceptance speech at the 65th Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, as shared by People tabloid. "And it has just been such a journey. I just EGOT!"

David earned the coveted title after winning Grammy Award for the audiobook of her memoir ‘Finding Me’. In her speech, she went on to thank "everybody who was a part of my story, and the best chapter yet, my loves [husband Julius Tennon and 12-year-old daughter Genesis]. You are my life and my joy, the best chapter in my book. Thank you!"

Davis’ memoir chronicles her life and career in Hollywood, taking the readers through the time when she was first cast for ABC’s “How to Get Away With Murder,” a show that brought her fame and recognition and detailing the racism and incidents she experienced. Daivs has had numerous accolades and nominations in her career.

Davis' first Grammy win was also her first nomination. The actress also has two Tony Awards in her name, one for King Hedley II and other for Fences. She won a Primetime Emmy for How to Get Away With Murder and an Oscar for the 2016 film Fences. In 2017, Davis created history and became the first Black woman to have three Academy Award nominations in her name.

She also made history by becoming the first Black artist to “triple crown” by winning Oscar, Emmy and Tony awards.
