Wish Teaser: Chris Pine joins Ariana DeBose to voice characters new animation film

From the makers of Frozen and The Lion King comes another story of magic that revolves around a little girl named Asha.

Coming from the makers of Frozen and The Lion King, audiences will now be introduced to yet another new world of magic with Asha in Wish. Asha is a sharp-witted idealist, who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force-a little ball of boundless energy called Star who come together their most formidable foe – King Magnifico, ruler of Rosas. Featuring the voices of Academy Award-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha's favorite goat, Valentino, the film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn.

In this musical comedy, audiences will be transmitted to an imaginary land located off the Iberian Peninsula, known as 'Rosas'. Asha lives in Rosas, known as the kingdom of wishes. People come from everywhere to give their wishes to a magical king who promises to grant their deepest desires-someday. Only he can decide which wishes will come true. But with Asha joining hands with her magical side-kick Star, together, they confront the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico-to save Asha’s community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Chris Pine lends his voice to the ruler of the magical kingdom, Rosas. Talking about it, Wish’s executive producer and co-writer Jennifer Lee said, “As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some.”

Tony Chambers, executive vice president and head of theatrical distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, revealed the casting coup moments ago at CinemaCon 2023, highlighting that Wish continues Disney Animation’s tradition of bringing epic tales to the big screen for families to experience together over the Thanksgiving holiday and beyond. The film also helps mark the culmination of Disney100, a year-long celebration honoring the legacy of Walt Disney and its innovative storytelling.

Wish is produced by Peter Del Vecho and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes. Executive producer Jennifer Lee, and Allison Moore are writers on the project. With original songs by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, the music score is composed by Dave Metzger. The film will release in theatres on November 22, 2023.
