Not to be left behind, Paa made its mark at the awards too. Vidya Balan bagged the Lions Favorite Actress in a leading role, while R Balki took the Lions Favorite Director and adman of the year awards. Paa was also rated the Lions Favorite Film.
In a unique move, the Lions Club decided to donate all the sponsorship proceeds to an old age home run by the organization, a fact that was lauded by the celebs in conversation with Bollywood Hungama.
All in all, the 16th edition of the distinguished awards saw the galaxy of stars turn and share the limelight with fellow mortals. -

The glitzy 16th Lions Gold Awards in Mumbai saw the legendary “Jai - Veeru†share the stage after a long time. Superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra hit it off real well and even shared a quite remark of two while on stage.
The Lions Club of SOL Mumbai conferred the Big B with the Lions Favourite Actor in a Leading Role award for Paa, while Dharmendra was given the Lions Favourite All Time Evergreen Legend award.
Still on the stage, and to the audiences’ delight, Dharmendra mouthed dialogues from Sholay.
Before this, Amitabh was given a rousing welcome with the crowd roaring with chants of ‘Auro, Auro’.

Later, Amitabh Bachchan gave the Lions Favourite Doyen of the Film Industry award to pioneering filmmaker Yash Chopra. Other filmmakers awarded at the ceremony included Ramesh Taurani (Lions Favourite Entertaining Film) for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Rensil D’Silva (Lions Favourite Upcoming Director) for Kurbaan.
