In a unique move, the Lions Club decided to donate all the sponsorship proceeds to an old age home run by the organization, a fact that was lauded by the celebs in conversation with Bollywood Hungama.

The glitzy 16th Lions Gold Awards in Mumbai saw the legendary “Jai - Veeru†share the stage after a long time. Superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra hit it off real well and even shared a quite remark of two while on stage.
The Lions Club of SOL Mumbai conferred the Big B with the Lions Favourite Actor in a Leading Role award for Paa, while Dharmendra was given the Lions Favourite All Time Evergreen Legend award.
Still on the stage, and to the audiences’ delight, Dharmendra mouthed dialogues from Sholay.
Before this, Amitabh was given a rousing welcome with the crowd roaring with chants of ‘Auro, Auro’.

Later, Amitabh Bachchan gave the Lions Favourite Doyen of the Film Industry award to pioneering filmmaker Yash Chopra.
Other filmmakers awarded at the ceremony included Ramesh Taurani (Lions Favourite Entertaining Film) for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Rensil D'Silva (Lions Favourite Upcoming Director) for Kurbaan.
The awards, which were pre-announced, saw a mix of old and the new being awarded. Govinda received the Lions Favourite Popular Entertainer while Madhur Bhandarkar received his forth Lions award this year. The duo was seen sharing a laugh on stage.
Raju Manwani, Chairman, Lions Club of SOL Mumbai, said, "What separates this event from others is there are no nominations, all the winners are pre announced. So nobody will go home depressed."
Omi Vaidya, Chatur of 3 Idiots fame, received the Lions Favorite Actor in a Supporting Role award. The US-based actor-director praised the Lions' initiative to award the best of film and TV personalities. In fact, 3 Idiots won a bundle of awards including the Favourite Popular Film, Favorite Critics Film, Favorite Popular Director and the Best Child artist.
