Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2011 was a star studded event with famous international celebrities like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Clive Owen, Robert DeNiro, George Clooney, Emily Blunt and many others promoting their films. Indian actors like Freida Pinto, Dev Patel, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher too made their presence felt at this prestigious film festival.
Freida Pinto arrived at TIFF for the premiere of her film Trishna at the Princess of Wales. Trishna is based on Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles and also stars Riz Ahmed. It is co-produced by Sunil Bohra and was shot extensively and exclusively in rural India.
She posed for the shutterbugs along with the director of her film Michael Winterbottom.
Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle Khanna at the premiere of Speedy Singhs at TIFF. Akshay and Twinkle both are seen wearing Abu-Sandeep creations. Akshay looks dashing in a white sherwani and Twinkle looks incredible as usual, in the white and gold churidar kurta with a matching golden clutch.
Akshay Kumar, who is very famous in Canada, had a grand premiere and party to celebrate his new movie Speedy Singhs at TIFF. Speedy Singhs is cross-cultural film based on ice hockey, the national sport of Canada. The film is directed by Robert Lieberman.
Anupam Kher, Gurpreet Guggi, world famous stand up comedian Russell Peters, lead actor Vinay Virmani (who has also written the film), Akshay Kumar, Hollywood star Rob Lowe and Robert Lieberman at the press meet.
Freida's boyfriend Dev Patel also attended the premiere of Trishna. After which the duo headed over to the BlackBerry Inside Film Lounge for a dinner and after-party at Brassaii restaurant in Toronto.
