The first animation feature to hit us this year, turns out to be a live action 3D animation composited film labeled, Main Krishna Hoon. Directed by Rajiv S. Ruia (of My Friend Ganesha fame) the film features Juhi Chawla and child actor Namit Shah. The film, which revolves around the adventures of the animated deity Krishna and child actor Namit, also has Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif doing cameos. The hybrid film took over a year and a half to complete and most of the film was shot in Hyderabad, except for the scenes where Katrina Kaif was involved. Talking about the project Rajiv says, "When the 12th character design of the animated deity was locked during pre-production, we decided to go ahead with the modeling process, we outsourced some animation work to Singapore that took a lot of time, this was a concurrent production that happened along with the production in India." Bollywood Hungama's Philip Bode gets Rajiv to talk about, animation being restricted to children, making actors act for animation and the challenges in making Main Krishna Hoon.
"Most of the animation films that release are inclined towards children only"
I feel that India has not witnessed its very own live action animated composited movie, where we have live action plates interacting with CG characters. This was until my last film My Friend Ganesha 3 released, which was touted as India's first live action, 3D animation composited feature film. My principal lead characters in both my films My friend Ganesha 3 and Main Krishna Hoon, have played god characters. Most of the animation films that release are inclined towards children only. I have carved out the narrative in a manner where even adults can enjoy the film.
