SCARF-ACE: You need height and the legs to pull off a scarf dress. Sadly, Aloo Chaat actress Linda Arsenio can boast neither. Scarf dresses work when they have the right print - this one is far too nondescript to make any impact. The red clutch makes the ensemble look even clumsier. This dress would look better as a scarf.
Our tip: Shorter dresses that reach the knees, trousers and fitted shirts.
Recommended mentor: Pooja Bedi has the height, gait and legs to carry off this scarf dress. The colours are rich and symmetrical pattern as it should be. She accessorises superbly with feminine high heels, a gold hand bag and subtle beaded bracelet. Notice the coordinated nail polish too. -

BUSTED: Neetu Chandra heads our list, for not once but at least two shocking public displays of style crimes. You need elegant, slim shoulders and slim arms to carry off an off-shoulder dress and those white slip-ons look more appropriate for a Sunday brunch than an evening event. As for the tank top and jeans, where does one begin? Firstly, one common problem with the blue dress (a size too small maybe), then there's the awful thin black belt tied so tight it's ruffling the jeans, the turn-ups over the black closed shoes only help to distract attention from her thighs.
Our tip: Get a thigh master, get on the elliptical and concentrate on the bicep and tricep curls.
Recommended mentor: Kareena Kapoor has the size zero stats to step out in a red off shoulder tunic top. Discreet, elegant and classy. -

On a pale skinned person like Neil Nitin Mukesh, the red, black and white over-done shirt and jacket are just too dark and overwhelming to the extent that they overshadow otherwise cool boots.
Our tip: Get a tan, wear lighter colours, avoid over-the-top couture.
Recommended mentor: Akshay Kumar to show that talent, not clothes, speaks for a real star. And attitude needs just be hinted not yelled out. Akshay's ensemble says 'I am approachable, neat and I mean business' but his yellow loafers add 'but I am an individual and I know how to have fun'. Ok Neil? -

NOT ROCKING: Rock On actress Shahana Goswami should stick to her day job. Her sense of performance is clearly better than her fashion sense. Her pink crossover top and black jeans make her look like she'd be more comfortable taking dictation than facing the media at a promotional event. Her score improved only marginally at the premiere of Firaaq where she correctly opted for a sari but the long blouse and black clutch made her look 1970s rather than 2009.
Our tip: Get a makeover and a personal shopper immediately.
Recommended mentors: Two in fact: Nandita Das can show her how to carry off and accessorise a sari while the ever fashionable Preity Zinta can give Shahana a few tips on dressing up in the day time.
