On June 11, actor Darshan and his partner Pavithra Gowda were taken into custody by the Bengaluru police in connection with an alleged murder case. The pair will remain in custody until June 17. Since the arrest, Darshan’s family has faced significant online trolling, prompting his 15-year-old son, Vinish, to speak out.

Vinish addressed the harsh comments directed at his father and their family via his Instagram stories. Expressing his frustration and hurt, he wrote, “Thank you all for all the bad comments and offensive language towards my father and not considering that I am a 15-year-old with feelings. Even during this hard time when my mom and dad required support, cursing at me won’t change that.”

Impact on Darshan's family

In the wake of the arrest, Darshan's wife, Vijayalakshmi, unfollowed him on social media and subsequently deactivated her Instagram account, according to a report by TOI.

Director Ram Gopal Varma commented on the situation via X (formerly Twitter). He remarked, “A star using one die-hard fan to kill another die-hard fan who was interfering in his personal life is a fit example of the bizarreness of the star worship syndrome. Fans wanting to order how their stars should run their lives is an unavoidable side effect of the same syndrome.”

Details of the case

In the ongoing investigation, Pavithra Gowda has been named A1, and Darshan A2, in the murder case of Renukaswamy. The Bengaluru police made the arrests after Renukaswamy's body was discovered in a drain near Summanahalli on June 9. Initially, two of Darshan and Pavithra's aides confessed to the murder, citing a financial dispute as the motive. However, call records later implicated Darshan and Pavithra in the crime. As of Thursday, the police have made three additional arrests related to the case, according to reports by PTI (Press Trust of India).
