Dhanush pays tribute to Captain Vijayakanth at the Captain Miller audio launch event

Captain Miller is expected to release on January 12, during the occasion of Pongal.

As Dhanush fans eagerly await the arrival of the actor in theatres this month, he is busy with the promotions of Captain Miller. The much awaited period drama is touted to be a massive entertainer and the music of the film too was launched with equal grandeur in Chennai on Wednesday. Readers would recall that last week, the Tamil film industry mourned the loss of one of its most popular actors as well as politician Vijayakanth and considering that this was the biggest event from the industry held recently, Dhanush decided to take a moment to honor the Captain.

At the audio launch held at Nehru Indoor Stadium on January 3, Dhanush along with the team of Captain Miller which included actress Priyanka Mohan and filmmaker Arun Matheshwaran decided to grieve the loss together and paid a tribute to Captain Vijayakanth. They not only observed a two-minute silence to pay their respects to the superstar but Dhanush also gave him a musical tribute of sorts.

Reports have it that many from the audience requested their favourite actor to hum a few words in memory of the late Captain, and after a little persuasion, the star gave in and obliged. He sang the famous song, ‘Raasathi Unna’ from his 1984 film Vaidehi Kathirunthal. However, considering that it was a special dedication to the late Vijayakanth, Dhanush altered the words ‘Raasathi’ which loosely means queen (since it also means beauty) into the word Raja aka King when he sang it. With the song winning hearts, we hear many from the audience crooned along with him, making it a heartfelt tribute from everyone.

Besides him, the film also remembered the late actor Puneeth Rajkumar and his brother Shiva Rajkumar was present at the event, since he is expected to play a key role in Captain Miller. The film is slated to release ahead of the festival of Pongal, on January 12.
