The Greatest Of All Time: CBFC mutes ‘f**k’, removes reaction shot of woman, modifies violent scene in Thalapathy Vijay-starrer

The Tamil industry and fans are gearing up for the release of The Greatest Of All Time aka The GOAT. It stars Thalapathy Vijay and is expected to be his second last film before he retires and joins politics full time. The trailer was released last week and it added to the excitement. A few days ago, it came to light that the action entertainer has been passed with a U/A certificate. However, the film had to go through a few cuts, as asked by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the makers to mute the words 'Iththa', 'F**k', 'Baadu' and 'Mayiru', wherever it was uttered including in a song. The word 'Mayiru' has been allowed to be retained only once. The words 'Desa Thandhai' were muted. The word 'Oththa' was visible in a scene and this two-second visual was replaced.

Then, a 1-second reaction shot of a woman was removed. The impact of neck slitting was modified. The cut list clearly mentions that there's no change in the duration, which means that the shot wasn't removed. How it got modified would be clear once viewers see the film. Lastly, the liquor brand's name was removed while smoking disclaimers were added in the scene whenever the characters were seen smoking.

Once these changes were made, the CBFC passed the film on August 23. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 179 minutes. In other words, The Greatest Of All Time is 2 hours and 59 minutes long. It is all set to release in cinemas on September 5 in Tamil and dubbed languages. It’ll also be released in the IMAX version.

Besides Thalapathy Vijay, The Greatest Of All Time also stars Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Ajmal Amir, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Parvati Nair, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu and others. The film, which features Vijay in a double role, is directed by Venkat Prabhu.
