Kamal Haasan has returned as Senapathy, the iconic vigilante hero from the 1996 Tamil film Indian. This July 12, the world will witness the highly-anticipated sequel, Indian 2, which promises to redefine action cinema. Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy in this sequel directed by Shankar. The film serves as a reunion for Haasan and Shankar, 28 years after the original's success. The trailer for Indian 2 is already creating a buzz, showcasing high-octane action sequences and stunning visuals that promise spectacular production value.

A promotional event in Chennai confirmed that the film will once again center on the problem of corruption in India. Haasan himself, in a touch of sarcasm, thanked the growing corruption in Indian politics for providing the justification for Senapathy's return – a vigilante hero known as "Indian Thatha" (Grandpa). “Worldwide, as far as I know, two directors have directed a film twice. The first one is Cecil B DeMille and the other is Alfred Hitchcock. Hitcock’s 39 Steps was made in black and white, and he again made it in color. Similarly, Cecil B DeMille made 10 Commandments in both black and white and color. In Tamil PU Chinnapa’s Uthamputhiran was later remade but only Sivaji Ganesan sir could do it. But Shankar has gotten the opportunity to make the film again, and because of him, I can do it again,” Haasan said.

He added, “On top of it, thanks to Indian politics for keep giving us the core for Indian 2. Only because of the growing corruption, the second coming of Indian Thatha has meaning for you. It is time to thank all good and bad people that helped this film happen.”

Beyond the powerful story and action, Indian 2 boasts a star-studded cast. Joining Haasan are actors Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, S. J. Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Kalidas Jayaram, and many more. The film's music, composed by the popular Anirudh Ravichander, has already garnered praise.
