Actress Kajal Aggarwal recently got married to her long-time boyfriend Gautam Kitchlu in an intimate ceremony in presence of their family members and close friends on October 30. It was a fairytale-like wedding. While not much is known about her love story, she recently spoke to Vogue about how it all began.

Kajal revealed that it began with friendship with Gautam and they eventually dated later on. “Gautam and I dated for about three years, and then we were friends for seven. We have progressed in every stage of being friends and been very important in each other’s lives,” she revealed to the magazine.

When it came to proposing, it wasn’t done in a grand way. Kajal revealed that amid the lockdown, they finally got together and discussed how they wanted to spend their lives together. “Gautam is understated when it comes to romance. He’s not the filmy sort, and I am grateful for it because I have enough of that in my films,” she said. “So, it wasn’t a proposal with all of the jazz, but it was an extremely heartfelt, emotional conversation between us. He was so authentic about his feelings and the way he expressed how he wanted to have a future with me; I couldn’t be more sure about spending my life with him!”

The actress did reveal that planning a wedding amid the pandemic and nationwide lockdown was quite different. She said that all the important decisions were made virtually. “There was no going out physically—everything was done over WhatsApp and Zoom calls. The designers—Anita Dongre, Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Falguni Shane Peacock—were so supportive. They sent me swatches at the nascent stages, shipped my outfit home for fittings, and made everything so seamless. My stylist Ami Patel helped through the process and styled my entire trousseau,” she revealed.

Planning a wedding entails so many moving parts and added to that the pandemic definitely was a challenge. However we strictly followed covid protocols which meant we had to have a very small wedding, got all our guests tested and created a bubble for everyone who was a part of our celebration. Kajal Aggarwal further said though the wedding was intimate, many family members and friends joined the ceremony via Zoom Call. “Keep calm, keep it personal and enjoy the moment,” she gave advice to the future brides.
