The upcoming Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2, the sequel to the iconic 1996 vigilante action film Indian, is creating a buzz across India. Taking a cue from the makers of Kalki 2898 AD, who promoted their film during IPL matches, Indian 2 is following a similar strategy.

Kamal Haasan and director Shankar Shanmugham will appear on Star Sports India's Cricket Live session tomorrow, May 18, during the high-stakes IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the massive viewership of the crucial match and generate excitement for Indian 2. While the film was initially slated for a June release, it has been pushed back to July.

Kajal Aggarwal takes the lead role alongside Kamal Haasan, with a strong supporting cast including SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, and Samuthirakani. Lyca Productions and Red Giant Films have joined forces to back this highly anticipated project, with the musical score composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

According to the reports, an action-packed and dramatic trailer for Indian 2 is nearing completion. The launch is expected within the next month, strategically timed around the Muharram period in July, which is a prime release window in India.

But the excitement goes beyond just Indian 2. The makers seem to be planning a multi-pronged promotional attack to position the film (also known as Bharateeyudu 2 in Telugu and Hindustani 2 in Hindi) as the biggest cinematic event of the year.

Here's where things get even more interesting: moviegoers can expect a glimpse of Indian 3 along with Indian 2. A crisp theatrical trailer for the third installment will be attached to the end credits of Indian 2, further amplifying anticipation for the franchise's finale.

This strategy is particularly intriguing as Indian (1997), the immediate sequel to the 1996 original, concluded with a cliffhanger ending.
