After the pandemic deferred the schedule of Indian 2, Kamal Haasan is expected to resume the shooting of S Shankar's next in January 2021. The film is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian, bankrolled by Lyca Productions.

Three schedules of the film were wrapped by October 2019. The film came to a halt in February 2020 when an accident occurred on the film set that claimed the lives of 3 technicians and injured several. While the makers and Kamal Haasan provided financial aid to the families of the victims, the shooting couldn't pick up with the pandemic further delaying the film.

Now, the makers have ensured that adhering to COVID-19 protocols and maintaining safety on the set, they intend to begin shooting by January or February 2021 in Tamil Nadu. It'll be a challenge for the production team, according to a daily, since the film requires to be shot at different locations, big setups.
