Mahesh Babu gets trolled for promoting tobacco brand; netizens say, “Bollywood can’t afford Mahesh Babu but pan masala can”

Mahesh Babu's recent comment of “Bollywood cannot afford me" has become viral and has taken a controversial shade. While a section of social media is praising the superstar for his comment, he is also being trolled in equal amounts. After his comment, netizens have been trolling him for promoting a tobacco brand. They also dragged his comment on Bollywood while trolling him. Mahesh Babu was part of a pan masala advertisement last year along with Tiger Shroff. In the wake of his controversial bollywood comment, netizens have unearthed the advertisement to troll the actor.

Sharing the old ad, a Twitter user questioned him for promoting a tobacco brand. “Bollywood can’t afford Mahesh Babu but pan masala can," one of the tweets read.

“It's funny how #MaheshBabu said that #Bollywood can't afford him. But a pan masala brand can ( he endorses Pan Bahar and having a Bollywood equivalent in Tiger shroff). Nothing wrong with it. But next time onwards, bring a better argument to act that Elite,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, actors Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgn were recently slammed for promoting a pan masala brand. Referring to that a Twitter user shared Mahesh Babu's ad and wrote, "I assume only TFI stars like #MaheshBabu are allowed to sell Pan Masala products, while the rest are abused for doing the same. Nice double standards".

For the unaware at a recent event, Mahesh Babu asked if he would be making his debut in Bollywood anytime soon, he responded, "I did get a lot of offers in Hindi, but I don’t think they can afford me. I don’t want to waste my time working in an industry which can’t afford me. The stardom and the respect I get here (in South) is huge, so I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to some other industry. I have always thought of doing films and becoming bigger. My dream is coming true now and I can’t be happier”.
