Ponniyin Selvan Trailer Launch: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan touches Rajinikanth’s feet; greets her ‘guru’ Mani Ratnam, watch viral videos

Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were in attendance at the audio and trailer launch in Chennai.

The much-awaited trailer and audio launch of Mani Ratnam's highly anticipated period drama, Ponniyan Selvan, was held in Chennai on Tuesday. The mega event was attended by big names from the industry. Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who will be seen playing the role of Nandhini, was seen in attendance alongside the cast of the film. Veteran superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were the guest of honours.

In two of the viral videos, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen touching Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam's feet as she greeted them at the event.

At the trailer launch, Aishwarya said, “I am very happy to be here at the trailer launch. Thank you for joining us on this special occasion. Ponniyin Selvan is a very precious film, very dear to our hearts. It has been an absolute honour to work with Mani Ratnam again, with such a talented team of actors and technicians. The entire cast is stellar. Everyone is outstanding. What an evening for us to be regaled with AR Rahman’s music. To actually celebrate this momentous occasion, also recognising rightly the incredible coming together of iconic talents AR Rahman and Mani Ratnam. I had the privilege of working with them at the beginning of my career—this talented duo, with Iruvar, and here I am again, as part of Ponniyin Selvan.”

Based on a novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, the film revolves around the power struggle of the Chola empire during the 10th century and will hit the screens in two installments. Jointly Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, directed by Mani Ratnam, the music of Ponniyin Selvan is composed by AR Rahman. PS-1 is slated for a worldwide release on September 30, 2022, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
