Thalaiva Rajinikanth is back on set and this time he's collaborating with the highly-acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film titled Coolie. This exciting project marks the official start of filming today, June 5.

Sun Pictures shared a new poster of Coolie on Friday along with the official announcement, “Superstar-Loki Sambhavam begins! ???? #Coolie shooting starts today.”

Fans are particularly thrilled about the pairing with Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his stylish action films like Vikram, Leo and Kaithi. Adding to the excitement is the news of Rajinikanth reuniting with veteran actor Sathyaraj after a staggering 38 years. Their last on-screen collaboration was in the 1986 film Mr Bharath.

Behind the camera, Coolie boasts a talented crew that complements the star power on screen. Anirudh Ravichander will be composing the film's soundtrack marking his third collaboration with Rajinikanth after Jailer and upcoming film Vettaiyan. Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, known for his stunning visuals in films like Jagame Thandhiram and Bangalore Days, will be capturing the action and emotions of Coolie. The editing will be handled by Philomin Raj. The film's dialogues are penned by Lokesh Kanagaraj himself, partnering with Chandhru Anbazhagan. Anbazhagan has also written the additional screenplay.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is slated for a multilingual release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
