At the song launch of Mission Majnu, Rashmika Mandanna revealed about how Bollywood music was synonymous for her with romance and South was all about ‘mass-masala’

After Bollywood debut with Goodbye, Rashmika Mandanna is all set for yet another intriguing Hindi film opposite Sidharth Malhotra. We are talking about the spy action entertainer Mission Majnu and recently the two lead actors attended the song launch of their film ‘Rabba Janda’, which is a romantic number picturized on the duo. During the same, a statement of the actress has garnered ample attention and some social media users even claimed that they were offended by the way she described South music.

Readers would be aware that South actress Rashmika Mandanna gained massive attention globally after the grand success of the commercial, masala, action entertainer Pushpa: The Rise, alongside Allu Arjun. The actress is now gearing up for her OTT debut with the Netflix film Mission Majnu. During the song launch of her first Hindi romantic song ‘Rabba Janda’, Rashmika elaborated on what Indian music means to her and how Bollywood, for her, has always been synonymous with romance. She said, “Bollywood romantic numbers were a thing. For me, while growing up, it is always been like romantic songs matlab Bollywood. In South, we have all mass-masala, item and dance numbers.”

Her statement didn’t go down well with some of the staunch South followers. After the video found its way on social media, some users decided to showcase their opinion on the matter. One user said, “everyone knows south has good romantic songs than Bollywood since from the beginning. but she just wants attention from Bollywood and Bollywood people. so degrading us! its her character.” Yet another added, “In south, romantic songs next level in all lang .. one best example in telugu all heros best romantic songs Kalyan, Mahesh , Rc , Ntr all have best romantic songs.”

One of the fans even listed down some of the popular music directors saying, “ever heard of ilayaraja, Ar rehman, Kalyan, Rajan nagendra etc.. simply dont talk nonsense once you get Bollywood movies. God knows why they take her for ads and movies. Can’t stand her talking nonsense.” Furthermore, a few others even stated some figures and statistics like one of them shared, “I am shocked to hear her statement. During 90s we grew up listening to many Tamil, Telugu, Kannada & Malayalam romantic songs. SPB has world record for singing 40,000 songs in 16 languages, at least 40% of them are romantic songs. Dear Rashmika, keep feet on ground while flying in sky.”

For the unversed, Rashmika Mandanna will be appearing in her second Bollywood film and making her OTT debut with the Sidharth Malhotra starrer Mission Majnu. The film is slated to release on January 19, 2023.
