The action entertainer Thangalaan had a grand release in cinemas in the original Tamil version on August 15. Now, the Hindi dubbed version will arrive on the big screen on September 6. A press conference was held in Mumbai to promote the dubbed version, and it was attended by actors Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu and director Pa Ranjith.
Parvathy began her introduction speech by reminding the audience that the last time she visited Mumbai for promotions was for Tanuja Chandra’s Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017), co-starring the late Irrfan Khan. During the question-and-answer round with the media, the talented actress was asked about the similarities between Irrfan and Chiyaan Vikram.
Parvathy Thiruvothu answered, “It's the generosity that I see in both of them. Irrfan used to help me out as Hindi is not my native language. He made sure that everyone felt that you were as good as the other person on the set.”
Talking about her Thangalaan cos-star Vikram, she revealed, “Firstly, I miss getting all the toffees. There’s a particular type of native toffee we get there. It’s called ‘kamarkat’ and is made of jaggery, sugar and coconut. He’ll be walking around, shake hands and suddenly, you have a toffee in your hand! He just brightens the mood for everybody, not just me. He would ask everybody ‘Khana khaya ki nahin?’. People can do it for show, but he genuinely had a concern about how everyone was doing.”
She further stated, “Moreover, our shooting location was very difficult. It was one of the harshest locations. But he had everyone’s back and, in that way, he was our ‘Thangalaan’ as he was leading the pack.”
She ended her answer by saying, “It is said that people might not remember what you might have said or given them but it’s about how you make them feel. That’s the similarity between Vikram and Irrfan sir.”
