However, citizens went to shops and online stores to buy surgical masks and N95 respirator masks. As of now, many hospitals and staff members don't have proper protective gear in place.

Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda took to his social handle and urged everyone to use scarfs, handkerchiefs, and mom’s dupatta to cover faces and leave surgical masks for the doctors. Sharing a photo of himself wearing a mask, he wrote “My loves, Hope you are all staying safe Cloth face covering will help slow disease spread. Leave the medical masks for doctors and instead Use a handkerchief Use a scarf or Use your mom's Chunni. Cover your face, stay safe. #MaskIndia."
