Actor Vijay Sethupathi has been criticized by several people ever since it was announced that he will be playing Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran in his upcoming biopic titled 800. However, following a backlash Muthiah Muralidaran in an official statement asked Sethupathi to opt out of the film as it might ruin his career. The actor acknowledged the statement and opted out of the film. However, this has not stopped the trolling faced by the Tamil star.

Vijay Sethupathi who has been on the receiving end of online hate and abuse ever since the announcement. Recently, a Twitter user issued a rape threat to his minor daughter. Several Twitter users reported the offender's account and asked the police to arrest the user for advocating violence against a child.

Reportedly, the Twitter user with the handle @ItsRithikRajh, tweetd pictures of vijay with his minor daughter and issued rape threats. Following multiple reports against the account, Twitter suspended the account of the offender.

In response to online rape threat to the actor's daughter, DMK MP S Senthil Kumar tweeted, “Are they human beings? Kindly track this person and put him behind bars”.
