Monica Dogra in Dhobi Ghat
Monica Dogra was a well known name courtesy her rock band Shaair n Func. She even sang the 'Dooriyan' track from Break Ke Baad. However, it was when Kiran Rao offered her a pivotal part in Aamir Khan Productions' Dhobi Ghat that the actress in her got noticed. Cast as Shai, the independent and spirited banker who comes down from the US to Mumbai to pursue photography as a hobby, Monica hit all the right notes and didn't get bogged down despite sharing screen space with a heavyweight like Aamir. Hope to see more of this born performer in the days to come.
After a successful innings down South, Kajal Aggarwal decided it was time to make her debut in Bollywood. The pretty looking girl got lucky with a big break in the form of Rohit Shetty's Singham where she was paired opposite Ajay Devgn. Even though Singham was predominantly an Ajay Devgn film, Kajal did make her presence felt as the naughty girl next door Kavya. Her scenes with Ajay infused some much needed light hearted moments in an otherwise high octane action film. Here is one girl who we can say has made a promising debut this year.
Following in the footsteps of her much famous cousin sister Priyanka Chopra, the cute and bubbly Parineeti too decided to make her debut in Bollywood. After a stint with the marketing team at YRF, Parineeti got her big break in YRF's Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. As the loud-mouthed, daddy's girl from Delhi, Parineeti hit all the right notes playing Dimple in what can easily be termed as one of the best debuts this year. She got the Delhi accent bang on and had the audience in splits with her funny repartees. Surely here is one actress who can go a long way in the days to come. Parineeti will be next seen in YRF's Ishaqzaade opposite debutant Arjun Kapoor.
To get a chance to debut opposite heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in an Imtiaz Ali film is something which any aspiring model/ actress would give her arm and leg for. However, the lucky one to bag that role in Rockstar was Nargis Fakhri. It wouldn't be wrong to say that her's was the most hyped debut. Ever since it was announced that Nargis would be making her debut in Rockstar, this half-Czech, half Pakistani model from New York become the cynosure of all eyes for her strikingly good looks. When the film released, Nargis did receive some flak from certain section of the audience for her acting talent but to be fair to this gorgeous beauty, she did do decently for her first film. We only hope this stunner only improves from film after film.
