Parambrata Chatterjee
After making a mark for himself in Bengali cinema, actor Parambrata Chatterjee made an impressive debut in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. As the quiet yet strong cop Rana, Param hit all the right notes conveying the right emotions more through his eyes and less through his words. While West Bengal always knew of his talent, with Kahaani, Param has managed to reach out to a pan-India audience. Here's hoping to see more of this talented actor in Bollywood in the days ahead. -

Tigmanshu Dhulia
The name Tigmanshu Dhulia needs no introduction. After all he is the well-known director of films like Haasil, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Paan Singh Tomar etc. However, he finds a mention in this list of debutants as he made his full-fledged acting debut this year with Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur. Enacting the pivotal role of the wily politician Ramadhir Singh, Dhulia was spot-on in every frame that he appeared in. His was a pivotal role in both parts of the film and not once did he show any rawness. Easily one of the better acting debuts of this year!
Besides these, 2 other actors who made a solid impact in their first Hindi film despite not having a big role were Zeishan Quadri (who played the eccentric 'Definite' in Gangs of Wasseypur-2) and Saswata Chatterjee (who played the freaky Bob Biswas in Kahaani). -

Sidharth Malhotra
For someone who had no filmy connections whatsoever, Sidharth Malhotra couldn't have asked for a better debut. After assisting Karan Johar in My Name Is Khan, this tall and handsome dude got his big break in KJo's directorial venture Student Of The Year. His entry sequence alone had the girls swooning and the rest as they say is history. What's more, even before his maiden flick released, this talented lad was signed by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures for a two film deal. Surely the future's bright for Sid. -

Varun Dhawan
Yet another filmy kid made his big screen debut this year and we are talking about the handsome Varun Dhawan (son of filmmaker David Dhawan). There's no denying that Varun got a dream launch pad by none other than Karan Johar with the campus flick Student Of The Year. But credit to Varun for delivering the goods when it mattered most. As the rich brat Rohan Nanda, Varun displayed his vulnerable side really well and even excelled in the emotional scenes- a true test to any actor's potential. Going by his good looks and acting prowess, he surely is a lambi race ka ghoda. -

Arjun Kapoor
Ever since Boney Kapoor's son Arjun announced that he would be making his acting debut, there was a lot of hype built around his debut. Initially Arjun was supposed to debut with Y-Films' Virus Diwan playing the role of a hacker, but the film didn't take off and Arjun bagged another film with YRF namely Ishaqzaade. Playing the small town goon Parma, a role completely in contrast to his real life character, Arjun got the body language and accent bang on, delivering a confident performance. It can be said that he did justify the huge expectations built around his debut. Arjun has some interesting projects lined up with YRF such as Aurangzeb (in which he plays a double role) and Gunday. Besides he will also be seen in the official remake of Chetan Bhagat's best seller 2 States to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar. Surely this lad has arrived in a big way.
