Freida Pinto in Elle
Don't get us wrong on this one. We are really proud of Freida Pinto's international achievements, so when we came to know that Freida will be the first Asian to grace the cover of the US edition of Elle Magazine, we were impatiently waiting for the magazine to hit the stands. But all the excitement was gone once we saw the cover as one can't even see Freida's face properly. With the net veiled hat covering her face further, we wonder why they didn't just take any other model. Must add that we love the lotus print Givenchy Resort sleeveless dress, as it is all that one can see in the picture! -

Getting to be on the cover of a reputed magazine is the dream of every model and actress. In the glam world, books are always judged by their covers. A cover should be impactful enough to entice the readers to buy it just after one look. There is a lot of hard work put in by the magazine, the stylist, the photographer and the model to make the cover as attractive as possible. But what happens when the end result is a disaster?
Divya Rajani at Bollywood Hungama gives you a list of 2011's most catastrophic cover pages.
Katrina Kaif in Vogue
This was "the makeover issue" of Vogue, featuring one of India's hottest and beautiful stars - Katrina Kaif, but they landed up giving Kat her worst makeover! Katrina tries to do a sexy grunge for the cover but falls flat. Her face looks scrawny and the hair lackluster and unruly. The styling is also not up to the mark, the black bustier with the black net skirt is also a big let down. All we have to say is that she looks bland in black. -

Kangna Ranaut in Hi! Blitz
Covers are supposed to be impactful and gain people's attention, NOT scare them away! Kangna Ranaut, who dares to experiment with her looks and try out new trends, had us terrified with her look on the cover of Hi! Blitz. The Cruella de vil inspired hairstyle and Black Swan inspired makeup simply ruined an otherwise fierce look. The dress is also ill fitted and looks baggy. We are also wondering what that mammoth 'Bee' is doing on her shoulder? If that's supposed to be artistic, well it just lands up looking preposterous! The frozen expression isn't helping either. -

Shraddha Kapoor in Beauty & Style
Here's a case of bad styling with a clashing background. Newbie Shraddha Kapoor, who received a good response from critics as well as viewers for her performance as a spunky teenager in Y-Films Luv Ka The End, must have been on cloud nine when informed that she would be the cover girl for the anniversary issue of Beauty & Style. There is no doubt that Shraddha is extremely gorgeous and very stylish too, but we wonder what happened here! Her hair and make-up is just about OK. Her multi-coloured kurti looks as if it has been picked up from Lokhandwala market and to top it all they have gone in for such a colourful background that just doesn't help us differentiate between her outfit and background, making it strain on the eye! -

Genelia D'Souza in Marie Claire
Keeping with the trend of colour blocking, Genelia D'Souza featured on the cover of Marie Claire in a Gucci, Spring 2011 creation and that is where the good part ends. Keeping the colour blocking till the clothes is fine but extending it to the background and make up is a little too much. The orange lips and pink shimmery eye makeup is just too over the top and Genelia's expression isn't serving the purpose either.
