Filmmaker R. Balki has a long standing association with Amitabh Bachchan since their Cheeni Kum (2007) days. The megastar has been a part of all of the director’s movies and even his wife Gauri Shinde’s debut English Vinglish.
While Balki continues to maintain that Amitabh Bachchan is his lucky mascot, the veteran star will now be a part of the filmmaker’s PadMan. The film which has Akshay Kumar playing the lead role will have Amitabh in a short cameo. In fact, prior to this, the actor had also made a small appearance along with his wife Jaya Bachchan in the Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Ki & Ka, directed by R. Balki.

PadMan also marks the foray of Twinkle Khanna into production under the banner Mrs. FunnyBones Films. In fact, it was the former actress who came across the story of Murugnatham for her second book and further also decided to make a film on it.
However, this time around, Amitabh Bachchan would be making an appearance minus his wife Jaya in PadMan and will be playing himself in the film. Asserting the same, Amitabh took to his blog to not only share pictures but also wrote about his role in the film saying, “R. Balki shoots a film with AKSHAY Kumar and Sonam at the IIT Delhi, one of the most prestigious Institutes of world reckoning and wishes that I make a small appearance as myself for a few shots .. so in at the early hours and out by the afternoon and back home in Mumbai .. its a home to home trip .. and back to the grind ..”
