Besides the aforementioned actors, Begum Jaan also has actresses like Gauhar Khan, Flora Saini, Poonam Rajput, Priyanka Setia, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun and Mishti playing important roles in the film. Begum Jaan will be shot in Punjab, Jharkhand and Delhi.
Begum Jaan, which happens to be the Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini, is being produced by Vishesh Films and Play Entertainment.
Chunky Panday joins the likes of Rajit Kapoor, Vivek Mushran, Rajesh Sharma, Pitobash, Ashish Vidyarthi and Sumit Nijhawan. Speaking about his role, Chunky Pandey said that he auditioned for the film without any hope of bagging it. But, after a few days, Srijit Mukherji took him to a barber's shop and tonsured his head making him totally bald. And when Chunky Panday reached home, his wife (Bhavna Pandey) screamed and ordered him to be out of their bedroom for two full weeks till the time he started to look like the 'normal' Chunky Panday.
Ever since the time the Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan has been announced, it has been making news for all the right reasons. The film, which is being directed by Srijit Mukherji, revolves around the story of 11 women in a brothel household, who refuse to part ways with their shelter as it becomes victim of a disastrous partition between India and Pakistan. Readers may be aware that the film is a Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini.
